DOT to hold public hearing on 79 project
Chipley- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a Public Information Meeting regarding proposed roadway improvements to SR 79 from Potter Springs Road (CR 284A) to north of Millers Ferry Road (CR 284), Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Oak Valley Opry, 3351 Mallory Rd., Vernon, Florida.
The project includes widening SR 79 from two lanes to a four-lane, rural cross section. Changes have occurred in the project design presented at previous workshops and hearings. Proposed changes to the design include placing an approximate 6,500 ft. segment of SR 79 at New Hope on new alignment in order to avoid impacts to a property that is potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The 4.5 mile project is not currently funded for right-of-way acquisition or construction.
This meeting will follow an "open house" format and consists of displays and drawings showing the proposed design. FDOT representatives will be available to answer questions. Comments are welcome and forms will be provided. There will be a formal presentation at 6 PM. followed by a public comment period.
